Ikigai: 3 Good Things
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This is the privacy policy for the Ikigai: 3 Good Things app. Developer: Takayoshi Kanao. Support: ch.sk5577@gmail.com.
Ikigai is a private daily journal. You can write three good things, keep an optional photo with an entry, grow a small garden, and turn on a daily reminder. You do not need an account to write.
Your journal text and any photos you attach are stored on your phone. The daily reminder is a local notification on your phone. We do not use remote push notifications. If you never turn on Google Drive backup, your journal is not uploaded by us.
Sign in with Google is optional. If you sign in, Google gives the app your name and email address so the app can show who is signed in. We use that name and email only for this sign-in and for your backup.
Backup uses your own Google Drive. The app can create and update only the backup files it makes. It does not read the rest of your Drive. We do not sell your Google data, and we do not use it for ads. You can disconnect Google in Settings. Disconnecting removes the backup connection in the app. It does not delete your Google account.
Location is optional. The app asks only while you use the garden, or if you turn it on in Settings. It uses an approximate position, about 1 kilometer, not your street address. Those coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo so the garden sky can match the local time of day and weather. If GPS is off, and you have allowed location, the app may ask ipwho.is for a coarse network estimate. That service sees your IP address. The app does not store your location, sell it, or use it for advertising. If you say no, the garden uses your phone clock and an approximate season.
A photo on an entry is optional. The app uses the photo library or the camera only after you allow it. You can write with no photo.
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. A banner may appear in Settings. A short video ad plays only if you tap the support button. Google may collect a device advertising identifier and related ad data under Google’s own policy. Ads are not required to use the journal. Location from the garden is not used for these ads.
We do not sell your journal, photos, location, or Google account data. We do not require an account to write. We do not show your journal to other people.
Ikigai is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change.
